What should I pay attention to when purchasing Earthing Switch?

1. Inspection of the support and grounding of the Earthing Switch:

1) The support and the grounding lead should be free of rust and damage, and the grounding should be good;

2) The grounding down conductor has obvious signs;

3) The fixed bolts of the grounding down conductor should be equipped with spring washers.

2. Check the wiring of the Earthing Switch:

The electrical connection is reliable, the bolt tightening should meet the torque requirement, and each contact surface should be coated with electric compound grease; the lead wire should be properly tightened, and there is no obvious over-tightening or loosening.

3. Function acceptance of Earthing Switch (operation test):

1) When operating remotely and locally, the linkage between the Earthing Switch and its transmission mechanism is normal, and there is no jamming phenomenon; the opening and closing instructions are correct;

2) The mechanical and electrical locking of Earthing Switch and isolating switch meets relevant requirements, and the locking device should be flexible, accurate and reliable;

3) The different period values of the three phases when closing should meet the technical regulations of the product;

4) The distance between phases and when opening, the contact opening angle and distance should meet the technical regulations of the product;

5) The moving and static contacts should be in close contact.

What is the function of the Earthing Switch?

There are two kinds of Earthing Switches: maintenance Earthing Switch and fast Earthing Switch.

The maintenance Earthing Switch is configured next to the disconnectors on both sides of the circuit breaker, which only plays the role of grounding on both sides during maintenance of the circuit breaker.

The quick Earthing Switch is arranged on the side of the outgoing line disconnector of the outgoing line circuit near the line, which has two functions:

1. Open and close the capacitive current and inductive current generated by electrostatic induction and electromagnetic induction of parallel overhead lines;

2. In case of creep agephenomenon of insulator inside the shell or arcing inside the shell, the fast Earthing Switch shall lower the main circuit to ground quickly, and the circuit breaker shall be used to cut off the fault current.

What is the difference between an Earthing Switch and a fast Earthing Switch?

The Earthing Switch is arranged next to the isolating switches on both sides of the circuit breaker, and only serves the function of grounding on both sides of the circuit breaker during maintenance.

The fast Earthing Switch is arranged on the side of the line side of the outgoing line isolation switch of the outgoing circuit. It has two functions:

1 Open and close parallel overhead lines due to capacitive current generated by electrostatic induction and inductive current generated by electromagnetic induction;

2 When the insulator inside the enclosure has a creepage phenomenon or an arc is ignited inside the enclosure, the fast Earthing Switch drops the main circuit to ground quickly, and uses a circuit breaker to cut off the fault current.

The cooperation of the circuit breaker and the fast Earthing Switch can be said from two aspects, one is from the perspective of switch tripping, and the other is from the aspect of reclosing.
