The capacitors are components that store electricity and electrical energy (potential energy). A conductor is surrounded by another conductor, or the electrical field lines emitted by a conductor all end up in the conductor system of another conductor called a capacitor.
(1) The loading process.
The process of charging a capacitor (storage of charge and electrical energy) is called charging. Connect one plate of the capacitor to the positive pole of the power supply and the other plate to the negative pole of the power supply, and the two plates are loaded with the same quantities of heterogeneous charges. After loading, an electric field exists between the two plates of the capacitor and the electrical energy obtained from the power supply is stored in the capacitor during the charging process.
(2) The discharge procedure.
The process in which the charged capacitor loses charge (release of charge and electrical energy) is called discharge.
(1) When the capacitor explodes and catches fire, immediately disconnect the power supply and use sand and a dry fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.
(2) If the fuse on the capacitor has been blown, this should be reported to the dispenser and the capacitor power switch should be opened after approval. Disconnect the power supply to unload it and first perform an external check, e.g. earthing device, etc. and measure the insulation resistance between the poles and the pole to the earth. Check if the condenser bank wiring is complete and solid and if there is a phase loss. If no error is detected, you can change and close the insurance. If the fuse is still blown after the power supply, the defective capacitor should be removed and the remaining power supply restored. If the protection switch is triggered at the same time as the fuse is burning, it shall not be sent by force at that time. After completion of the above mentioned inspection, the insurance must be replaced before the investment.
1. The rated voltage is the highest DC voltage that can be permanently applied to the capacitor at the lowest ambient temperature and the rated ambient temperature. If the operating voltage exceeds the voltage strength of the capacitor, the capacitor is destroyed and damaged. In practice, the tensile strength value is reduced with increasing temperature.
2. Insulation resistance. The DC voltage is applied to the capacitor and the leakage current is generated. The ratio of the two is called insulation resistance. If the capacity is small, its value depends mainly on the surface state of the capacitor; If the capacity is greater than 0.1mF, its value depends mainly on the medium. Generally speaking, the greater the isolation resistance, the better.
3. Loss. Under the influence of an electric field, the energy consumed by a capacitor in a time unit due to heat is called loss. The loss is related to the frequency range, medium, conductivity and resistance of the metal part of the capacitor.
